Arriving by Air

Big White Mountain is easily accessible from Kelowna's International Airport (YLW). The airport is serviced by a host of domestic and international carriers with more than 65 daily flights on 9 airlines.

There are many ground transportation options from YLW to make the convenient drive of around 1 hour to the mountain. Options include Shuttle Services, Taxi and Limousine, and Car Rental. Driving Directions



BEWARE OF WILDLIFE! The beautiful drive from Kelowna to Big White Mountain takes you through approximately 50km of open countryside, there can be wildlife on this route at any time of year, but especially in summer. You could encounter any or all of the following, and more:

  • Deer (especially at dusk)
  • Cows
  • Moose
  • Bobcats
  • Porcupine
  • Rabbits
  • Marmots

Note: All of the above should have right-of-way unless it puts yourself or other road users in danger.



Big White Road, between Highway 33 and Big White (a road you cannot avoid), is designated a Winter Tire & Chain-up Route by the Province of British Columbia.

Between October 1st and March 31st each year, your vehicle MUST be equipped with tires marked with the Mud & Snow (M+S) logo, or the 3-peak Mountain and Snowflake symbol.

DO NOT drive with un-marked all-season tires. Conditions can be severe and can change quickly.

DO NOT put yourself, other road users and the emergency services in danger by attempting the journey with a poorly equipped vehicle.
